Comite Estatal de Sanidad Vegetal de Guanajuato, A.C. (Cesaveg), an organization established to assist growers in Guanajuarto, Mexico, has an agreement with PrimusLabs.com, Santa Maria, California, to develop a complete food safety program for member growers. The program features PrimusLabs.com's Document Development Program, an interactive food safety manual and SOP builder accessed via their web site at no cost. Growers will prepare their own manuals aided by references to prevailing U.S. standards and will conduct self-evaluations. PrimusLabs.com-trained auditors employed by CESAVEG will then verify each grower's performance. Program information and results will be displayed on a web site developed for CESAVEG by PrimusLabs.com.
"With today's communications technology, there is no corner of the globe that has to remain uninformed or-and unresponsive to-food safety concerns," says Bob Stovicek, PrimusLabs.com president.
He says similar cooperative efforts with associations will be more of a standard, especially for large numbers of growers who may produce from small plots, be uninformed of current food safety practices, or be part-time producers.
