The Limoneira Company was founded in Ventura County, California in 1893. Its founders were pioneers of spirit and vision that helped lay the foundations of a thriving California citrus industry. Their dedication and innovation in the agricultural industry helped found and develop many institutions that still exist (Sunkist Growers, Fruit Growers Supply and Diamond Walnut).
Today, Limoneira has evolved into a global company whose mission is to preserve and promote its tradition, heritage and legacy in agriculture, community development and land stewardship to maximize value for its shareholders.
With prime agricultural land and operations throughout California, the company has over 7,000 acres in agricultural production of lemons, avocados, oranges, specialty citrus, pistachios, pluots, and cherries. The foresight and innovation of Limoneira´s founders remains strong today with Limoneira´s continuous commitment to new technology and state of the art farming practices. Limoneira continues to be one of the leaders in agriculture by setting farming standards and providing solid leadership grounded in years of experience.

Lemons
With over 2,000 acres of lemons throughout California, Limoneira is the largest lemon producer in North America. Priding itself on continual improvement , the company has introduced a number of significant innovations since the company was founded in 1893. Among the many contributions to the industry are improved storage methods, sophisticated harvest practices and equipment and advanced farming practices using recycled mulch for sustainable agriculture. The company has also developed new citrus varieties such as the Limco 8A, which was developed on Limoneira ranch property over 70 years ago and remains the standard for lemon production throughout the world. Limoneira, with its size and scope, is able to coordinate the most effective means of delivering high quality products and service to the marketplace. It is a simple principle that has worked well for more than 115 years.
