About Us
Salad Savoy was created by John Moore in 1983 from an idea he remembered from a vegetable garden in Sweden. Through detailed research and development, this entirely new vegetable, which is trademarked under the name Salad Savoy, was grown in Salinas, California, where it flourishes and is processed today.
A member of the Cruciferae family of vegetables, Salad Savoy is related to kale and cabbage, with a flavor that mildly resembles cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage. When cooked – which it does in no time, it becomes extraordinarily mellow and retains its beautiful color.
Salad Savoy officially entered the marketplace in 1984, and by 1985 it was recognized by Venture magazine as one of the "100 Best New Ideas of the Year."
