S & H PACKING & SALES COMPANY, INC. is a third generation family business that was founded in 1944 by Stephen T. Horwath. The company began in Phoenix, AZ as a truck farm serving the mining camps of central Arizona. The need for a wider variety of fresh produce items encouraged the company to travel throughout the southwest for supplies. Produce distribution systems and refrigerated transport during those years were in their infancy and there was always a reason to travel to the Los Angeles Produce Terminal either to purchase or to sell. The family eventually moved to the Los Angeles area and made it their center of operations. Produce was brought in from the country and put into condition for sale and distribution throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area and the southwest. The primary focus of the company was and continues to be the production and wholesale distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables, principally tomatoes. We are growers, packers, distributors and sales agents.

GONZALES PACKING COMPANY
GONZALES PACKING COMPANY is located in Gonzales, CA at the very center of the fertile Salinas Valley. This division is involved primarily with the packing, sales and distribution of fresh market mature green tomatoes throughout the United States, Canadian, and Mexican markets. It was established in 1949 to supply the Los Angeles repack operation with summer tomatoes. It has evolved over time and now distributes and sells over 2,000 acres of vegetable crops, all of which are watered with modern drip irrigation systems. The packing facility has the capacity to produce and de-green 30,000 boxes of tomatoes per day. Yearly tomato production averages in excess of 2,000,000 boxes. The Packing House and Sales Office is located in the heart of beautiful downtown Gonzales, California.
