SunFed® is a privately held grower-packer-shipper with headquarters in Nogales (Rio Rico), AZ. Our primary markets are in North America.
We are devoted to providing the highest quality fruits and vegetables, produced by the world’s finest growers, and packed in our SunFed® and SunDan® labels. This commitment and discipline has created a reputation for providing vegetables with extended freshness resulting in the functional elimination of shrink. Food Safety
SunFed’s® commitment to food safety pre-dates the current issues facing the fresh produce industry. SunFed has led with the use of ambient ozone and ozonated rinses in its packing and handling facilities. It pioneered the use of modified atmosphere packaging out of Mexico, partnering with StePac of Israel with such success that today the practice of using MA bags is rapidly becoming a precondition for entry in the Mexican vegetable deal.
Today SunFed® leads our industry in food safety. Viewing food safety as a culture, SunFed is backed by a great team with principles, policies and infrastructure that protect your families and ours. We have developed and employ our own internal food safety standards and audits, administered by SunFed’s food safety specialists. Additionally, all of SunFed’s growers meet and exceed PrimusLabs.com protocols for food safety, and submit to PrimusLabs.com’s Harvest Audits, Field Audits, Packinghouse Audits, and field testing utilizing Multi-Residue Screening. Discipline is present in every plan and every procedure; the results present in the final product.
These practices are an integral part of our activities, and are reflected in the conditions found at our distribution facility in Rio Rico, AZ (to review the facility certification, click here). SunFed’s team of food safety professionals work hand in hand with our growers, Primus and other third party auditing companies, and with our customer’s individual food safety departments in order to reach a desired result. Needless to say, SunFed provides produce of extraordinary quality and freshness that meets and exceeds all established local, state and federal criteria.
