Company History
California Giant was built by the dedication of many hard-working individuals, committed to one common goal; the perfect berry for our customers. We go to great lengths to produce the most flavorful, healthy fruit possible. We are committed to meeting the demands and challenges of an ever-changing marketplace.
We began as a small start-up company in 1970 and continued to grow and ultimately develop a formal partnership between the four owners. In 1983 the company became New West Fruit Corporation. At that time the company concentrated on shipping strawberries from Watsonville and Santa Maria, CA under the brand name California Giant.
In 1993, with strong sales and determination, the company established sources of supply to extend the berry season and began shipping strawberries from Oxnard, Ca. The company focus was changed from strictly a shipping operation and expanded to include growing operations. The goal was to control as much of the chain of production as possible to provide better quality and supply to customers on a daily basis.

Commitment to Quality
We have built our reputation on providing ample supplies of consistent quality berries throughout the year. We own much of the land we produce our berries on and we are able to maintain tight control over our products year-round. We also cool the majority of our fruit at company-owned cooling facilities. This assures all operations are clean, safe and managed with the utmost professionalism in the most modern facilities in the industry.
California Giant has raised the standard in strawberry food safety. We are proud of the fact that we are leaders in the areas of health and safety in our farming and handling practices. We incorporate stringent food safety measures into our day-to-day operations by adhering to the strict system guidelines set forth by the FDA and USDA. We also utilize third party verification of our methods by Davis Fresh Technologies, so our customers can rest assured the products they buy from California Giant are produced only on farms that are ProSafe certified.
